The disappearance of daily communication between mothers and their grown up children is one of the toughest problems mothers face when their kid leaves for college. This often contributes to the “empty nest” feeling mothers get which only makes matters worse for them. This quick disappearance of communication may have been more excusable back when communication wasn’t instant like it is today with texting, Skyping, FaceTiming, e-mailing, calling, etc., but not giving mom a call or two a week is definitely not excusable now.
Mothers are reassured to check up on their kids and see they are doing. After all the hard work moms put into raising their children, the least one can do is give a call every now and then.
